Toronto Police Use Violent Force In Raid of Compassion Club

CANNABIS CULTURE – Police used violent force in a raid on a Toronto location of the Cannabis As Living Medicine (CALM) Compassion Club on Wednesday, and arrested and laid marijuana trafficking charges against several staff members. “The police barged in and threw people to the ground without warning, without asking to be allowed in and without showing their warrant.,” CALM’s attorney Ron Marzel told Cannabis Culture. “They stormed their way in and started throwing patients down and pinning them to the ground. We got it all on video.” VIDEO COMING SOON – WATCH THIS SPACE One staffer suffered a concussion and a fat lip, but no one was seriously injured. Marzel said CALM’s owner, known as Neev, and eight staff members were charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking. Each was locked up for over ten hours before being released, and many who are medicinal marijuana patients were denied access to their medicine. The police told staffers they would be released only if they signed a form agreeing not to return to CALM until the case is over. “They made the staff promise, under a recognizance, not to go back to CALM,” he said, “and that was the only way they were going to release the staff and allow them to medicate.” Toronto Police were contacted by Cannabis Culture but refused to make a comment until “after the holiday”. I can believe I live in a city where police officers would do this to the sick and elderly. My family has been a victim of mistaken identity twice by local police officers both times taken out of the car at gun point. Shame on you Toronto Police Services!! There could have been some compassion before you slammed that man to the ground and cuffed him. Don’t they teach you about kharma in the police force??

Who is the lead investigator? Where has he or she disappeared to? There are over 2000 members of this club who are owed a true explanation as to why their access to a safe and reliable source of medication has been stopped. 2000 citizens of Toronto cut off their doctor’s prescribed medication. No alternatives offered or considered. Has the Toronto police’s conscience disappeared as well?
Ummm, Violent Force? Police did a perfect take down of suspect. I didn’t see anyone getting hurt or abused. I’m pretty sure the person that is in handcuffs has a good reason to be in handcuffs. This post is just a classic post of “Judge by knowing one side of the story”.
Why is the government telling us pot is so harmful or destructive to “the people” when somthing like $20 billion is spent on it just in Canada alone!?? Why does our government need to be convinced this is such a un-harmful – and even halpful! – substance when everyone is already smoking it anyways?? Out of all the things this generation both yound and old could be focusing on fixing or improving, we’re trying to get rid of this plant?

The problem with medical marijuana dispensaries is that they take bread out of the mouths of hard working criminal syndicates who are also involved with hard drugs, which means it takes “trickle down” money away from the police, judges, etc., who help the syndicates remain above the law. With only their paychecks, those poor public servants are only well-to-do instead of wealthy. For shame, hippies, for shame.
They are no different than any street gang robbing any small business. They have no genuine moral legitimacy whatsoever.
i was the first to be arrested . my rights were violated on many fronts. 2 police assaulted me slamming me against the cruiser by my throat, while cuffed behind my back. I wasn’t resisting at all. Held for 36 hr no food. property was cataloged without my presence & not sealed in front of me. i requested my property slip which is given once i verify all contents have been sealed , The said,” we are not sealing it because there is an ongoing investigation”

“Violent Force”? Where? I was expecting to see some serious police-brutality-beat down! I’m disappointed! Only One guy who approached the police gets taken down and then lies there like that old lady from that old medic-alert commercials “Help me. I’ve fallen and can’t get up!”. Canadian cops are way too nice. I’m surprised they didn’t knock first and take their shoes off. If this was the states the front of the store would be missing and people would have been bleeding after a raid!!!

Go raid the Comfort Zone. Not some place that helps very ill people. I am so fired up. I don’t smoke myself. I just know how much my bf needs it for his epilepy..and people like my father who died of terminal brain cancer.
This really pisses me off.
This place has been helping my bf get his medical marijuana on a weekly basis for his severe epilepsy. Each week when we go, there are many people in there wih Aids/HIV, Terminal patients, Cancer patients etc.

Cops are not supposed to serve tea and cookies. They are also not supposed to act like thugs or serve up whiplash, concussions, harassment or any other type of injustice to peaceful citizens. 51 division, vice or undercover… whatever, it doesn’t matter. They must show their warrant and identify themselves as a police officer before they start throwing (sick and terminally ill) peaceful, co-operative people on the ground. SHAME ON THE TORONTO POLICE.
